The Devil in Chains

Chapter:1

Y/n a sharp mind, intelligent girl who started her life as a teenager in books, her parents died in an accident. She was the only survivor from the incident. That day she decided she wanted to become a doctor.

{Present}

At night in the hospital, I was doing my night shift checking all my remaining patient's vitals, marking everything in their reports. After 30 minutes I completed the tasks and was about to put their reports back in the basement.

I went back to my office which was on the first floor. Gathering my morning shift documents from the desk and going to the basement area waving bye to my friends as they were leaving too.

{At Basement}

As soon as I came downstairs the door of the basement was locked and the warning sign taped on the gate. I stood confusingly, staring at the gate. Abruptly I heard someone in fury trying to get free.

The next moment I heard the sound of chains.

I checked my mobile to see if there was any warning given and there was a notification alerting that the basement will stay closed for some days due to some issues. All working staff are requested to submit their daily reports at the main counter.

I sighed, turning on my heels, I was about to walk away from there. Suddenly again I heard the sound of chains but this time clicking on the floor.

I froze on the spot, not even moving an inch. I turn to stare back at the door. There's something wrong here, she thought.

Without thinking twice Y/n started to unlock removing the tapes attached to the gate and finally she entered inside.

Everything was dark inside. I switched on the lights but they started flickering. I walked further inside and my eyes widened, the reports in my hands fell down and I stood wide-eyed looking at the scene in front of me.

There was someone tied on the chair brutally with chains around his body. I couldn't figure out the face but he was bleeding badly.

I started to take small steps towards him. The sound of my heels echoed in the room.

Slowly he started lifting his face and his vision was blurred because the amount of blood he had lost made him lose his focus.

I stood near him, he cantankerously asked me.

"Who are you?"

Jungkook's voice echoed in the dimly lit corridor, his tone sharp and filled with suspicion. His piercing gaze locked onto Y/n, who stood before him with wide, innocent eyes.

"I am a doctor. I came to submit my reports and heard the sound of chains. I was about to leave but the sound made me question myself so I came inside to check, I didn't know you were here. You looked like you needed help."

Y/n stammered, her heart pounding.

she started to unchain him.

"Why are you setting me free?"

she remained silent.

Jungkook tried standing up hardly and stepped closer, his imposing figure casting a shadow over her.

"you have no idea what you've done," he growled. "Do you even know who I am?"

Y/n swallowed hard, her voice trembling but steady.

"No, I don't. But everyone deserves a second chance."

Jungkook laughed, a cold, chilling sound. "Second chance? you're either incredibly brave or incredibly foolish."

"I like to think I'm a bit of both," Y/n replied, her voice soft but firm.

"You should come with me. I can take you somewhere safe."

Jungkook hesitated, his eyes narrowing. He didn't trust easily, and this girl was far too trusting. But he had no other options at the moment. "Fine," he said curtly. "Lead the way".

{Time skip}

Y/n led Jungkook to a small, rundown motel on the outskirts of town. The neon sign flickered ominously as they approached. She could feel Jungkook's intense gaze on her back, his presence both intimidating and oddly reassuring.

We'll stay here for a few days," Y/n said, her voice steady. "It's not much, but it's safe."

Jungkook surveyed the dingy room with a critical eye. "This is your idea of safety?" he scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain.

"It's the best I can do on short notice," Y/n replied, meeting his gaze. "I don't have much, but I'll help you however I can."

Jungkook's expression softened for a brief moment before hardening again. "I don't need your help," he said coldly. "I've survived worse than this."

"I believe you," y/n said quietly. "But that doesn't mean you have to do it alone."

Jungkook turned away, his jaw clenched. Stay out of my business, and you'll stay out of danger," he warned.

Y/n nodded, understanding his need for distance. "I'll get us some food," she said, heading towards the door. "Stay here and rest".

As she left the room, Jungkook sat on the edge of the bed, his mind racing. He couldn't afford to let his guard down, not even for a moment. Yet there was something about Y/n's steadfast bravery and kindness that made him question everything he knew about trust and loyalty.

{Time skip}

Y/n returned with a bag of groceries, setting them on the small table in the corner of the room. "I got some food and supplies," she said, trying to break the silence. "I hope you like past."

Jungkook glanced at the bag, his expression unreadable. "It'll do, " he said gruffly. "Why are you helping me?"

Y/n looked at him, her eyes filled with sincerity. "Because it's the right thing to do. Everyone deserves a chance to change, even someone like you."

Jungkook's eyes flashed with anger.

"You have no idea who i am or what I've done. Don't make the mistake of thinking you can save me."

"I'm not trying to save you, "y/n replied softly.

"I'm just offering a helping hand. It's up to you what you do with it."

Jungkook stared at her for a long moment, his cold exterior cracking just a little. "You're a strange one, Y/n, " he muttered.

"But maybe you're right. Maybe I do need a chance to change."
